SMS Campaign

The SMS campaign is a powerful eCommerce tool that will allow your business to send tailored messages to customers promoting your brand and products, as well as allow you to follow up with leads that have abandoned shopping carts. This feature will only be available for clients based in the U.S.

Getting Started

Step 1:

SMS campaign targeting will require explicit opt-in from the customer in order to be utilized. A checkbox with an ID will need to be added to your site's checkout flow in order to track which customers have opted-in to be messaged. For more info and to set that up, please see our SMS Checkbox Opt-In article here.

The phone number field will also require it to be set as an ID in the HTML for this setup. Once you are sure it will be possible to set up your site with a checkbox and the HTML IDs, continue to Step 2.

Step 2:

Navigate to your CartStack Dashboard and head to the SMS Notifications page here. Select the 'Email Support to Activate' button and someone from the CartStack Support Team will email you know they received the request and ask you to fill out this form which is required by the government in order to obtain a Verified Number: SMS Verification Business Info.

The CartStack team will then need to finish completing the legally required, toll-free verification process, which could take up to 8 weeks to finalize.

Step 3:

Once the CartStack Support Team has finished their side of the setup and the number has been verified, navigate back to the SMS Notifications page here.

  1. Select Add SMS Notification and then Edit.
  2. Set the Send Delay (We recommend the first be sent at 20 minutes).
  3. Set the SMS Message and SMS Call To Action URL.
  4. Include the Call to Action URL in the message by using the variable: %%url%%
  5. Save Settings and test with a valid phone number!

Example Campaigns:

Message #1 - (I think a support-based angle would work well for the first notification. Just to reassure your shoppers that you're looking out for them & there to help if they need it.)
Message - Did something go wrong? Come back to complete your purchase!
Message #2 - (A little scarcity is probably a good idea here, if they didn't respond to your support-based inquiry)
Message - Don't forget about your shopping cart! Inventory is limited & running low!
Message #3 - (If you have a coupon code you can offer, I think your third notification would be a great place to offer it!)
Message - Did you forget about us? ---  OR ---We miss you! Come back now & get 10% off your order: 10OFF
(If you don't want to offer a discount, we could go with something like: We miss you! Come back now and complete your order with (Company) before it's too late!)
